mountain hideaway This new custom home was designed as part of the Suncadia mountain retreat community in Eastern Washington. The project carefully integrated a modern Pacific NW design with the community's guidelines and restrictions. The architects designed the great room to be open to both outdoor spaces. The open quality was further enhanced by an exposed structural system. Large site built scissor trusses were designed with custom steel plate connectors. The trusses were designed to penetrate the exterior skin [including the clear transom windows] and rest on a series of posts and beams at the exterior of the building.
